frequently asked questions

{q} how much do you charge?

{a} Packages start at $2,500. Contact us for full pricing!

{q} what’s with the cost?

{a} We think of wedding photography as an investment. Yes, you are going to shell out a few bucks, but in return you will have something that you can keep forever, display on your walls, & pass down to your kids. It’s one part of the wedding where you really shouldn’t skimp if you can help it because other than your husband and your wedding bands, it is the one thing that will stick with you forever. There are so many factors included in our pricing. The hours spent on wedding day is just a small piece of the package. We love to support you & stay updated on your style through your planning process. We’ll meet with you once, twice, or whatever you need to feel good. We’ll give you ideas and technical advice if you ask. We’ll make you laugh and feel comfortable in front of the camera. We like to use high quality equipment (um, i mean reeeeeeeaaaallly like). We invest in ourselves through seminars, workshops and education wherever we can find it. We have our ducks in a row (the necessary but not-so-fun things like insurance, backup gear, & business costs.) We aim at customizing everything from posing, editing and album design to your personalities. And of course, we need to eat. All of this helps ensure you get the memories captured with our style that are closest in line with your own vision for your unique wedding day photography.

{q} how many photos do you take?

{a} Like thousands. Depending on the length of time we shoot and the number of guests and families members attending. So many awesome moments happen so quickly and we keep clicking away because we love to.

{q} how many photos will I get?

{a} You will get a minimum of 500 images. There is no set number. We don’t like to throw away photos because they would push over the gallery over the 500 image mark. If it’s awesome or might mean something special to you, it’s included. You may see more images if you have longer coverage (over 8 hours) or many combinations of large groups during family & formal portraits.

{q} do you edit all of the photos?

{a} Yes, we do. It’s part of our style. We don’t erase people or make them look different. We like to play with color, contrast and tone and experiment with vintage and modern effects blended together, but not over-done. For close-ups, we will do basic retouching if needed. As artists, we edit based on the photograph’s unique potential for color enhancement and black and white conversions.

{q} how would you describe your approach to wedding day photography?

{a} Primarily our style is documentary.  We shoot as the moments are happening.  We don’t like to stage them, but certainly will if needed.  We are also looking for artistic and creative composition as we attempt to freeze the whirlwind of a wedding day.    Most importantly, we draw our inspiration from who you are as people, the details of your wedding and the underlying theme and feel of the day. All of this is also taken into account when editing as we try to create some fine art images with flair by tying colors together, vintage-izing, bumping contrast or sharpening to look perfect for printing.  We want your photos to be unique, real and just awesome.

{q} why do I need a second photographer?

{a} The second photographer (hi Sam) can provide different perspectives in two ways. 1. Through a different person’s eyes. We have very different shooting styles and unique ways we capture the same moments. You won’t get bored looking through your gallery. 2. From different angles. I can’t be in front of you and behind you when you are walking down the isle. The best example is: Photographer #1 captures the bride coming down the isle & the guests balling with joy. While photographer #2 captures the groom watching the bride walk towards him and the back of the bride dress as she approaches him.

{q} do I own the images that come on the DVD?

{a} We retain the copyright to the images that we created by Federal Copyright Law, but do you receive the high quality resolution files on an archival DVD with a printing release for personal use. You then may reproduce the images as much or often as you like. You can even share them on Facebook & Twitter (and if you like us, maybe give a shout out via tag). You just can’t go ahead and submit them to a contest or sell them to a magazine for millions (but if you have the opportunity, make sure to contact me and we’ll work out a deal.);)

{q} how do I book you?

{a} Once it’s established that we are indeed available for your date, all we need is some information, a signed agreement and a $500 (non-refundable) date retainer fee and we’re yours. We would be happy to meet with you prior to booking of course. We book weddings on a first to contract basis, so we really can’t hold a date until we have a signed agreement and deposit.  When you’re ready to book, we can send you a link, and the process just takes a few minutes and a few easy steps online and you’re ready to go!
